EVANSVILLE, IN/HARRISBURG – A man wanted for murdering his mother in Vanderburgh County, Indiana was taken into custody Monday in Saline County.
According to the Evansville, Indiana Police Department, 28-year-old Jaron A. Wells was arrested for murdering Shanay M. Hunt. Hunt’s body was found inside a vacant home in the 1000 block of Harriet Street in Evansville this past July.
With the assistance of the Vanderburg County Prosecutor’s Office, the Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office and a lengthy and thorough investigation by detectives with the Evansville Police Department’s Adult Investigative Unit, a murder warrant was applied for and granted referencing a death investigation from July.
Through the investigation, Evansville Police detectives uncovered information that Wells was staying in a rural home outside of Carrier Mills. Members of Evansville Police Department, U.S. Marshals, the Harrisburg Police Department and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office took Wells into custody in Harrisburg.
Wells was booked into the Saline County Detention Center on the Vanderburgh County murder warrant.
