Authorities Confirm Mt. Vernon Woman Killed in Tuesday Crash

MT. VERNON – Details of a fatal head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on Illinois 37 north of Dix have been released.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 55-year-old Tina Scribner, of Mt. Vernon, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. At the same time, the driver of the other vehicle, 61-year-old Allen Rudd, was taken by ambulance to a Mt. Vernon hospital. His passengers, 63-year-old Iris Rudd, and Dorothea McFarland of Mt. Vernon, were airlifted from the scene.
Crash reports indicate Scribner was southbound on Illinois 37 in the northbound lane when she and Rudd swerved in the same direction and collided head-on in the northbound lane.
One of the helicopters landed in a nearby field, while the second landed directly on Illinois 37.
Jefferson Fire reports the head-on crash happened around 3:45 Tuesday afternoon. The sheriff’s office closed the highway for four hours while first responders were on the scene.
