CARBONDALE – Army ROTC cadets at SIU Carbondale will conduct exercises this weekend that will include helicopter landings on the campus’ far west side.
The exercise will begin today and last through Sunday. The training will include CH-47 helicopters from the Illinois National Guard landing near Stone Center to pick up ROTC cadets before flying them to the Illinois National Guard training area near Sparta, where they will join a larger Army ROTC training exercise.
The helicopters should arrive about 9 this morning to pick up the cadets and bring them back at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. In both cases, the helicopters will be in the area for about 30 to 45 minutes.
