EDDYVILLE – A fatal head-on crash was reported Saturday afternoon in Pope County.
According to Illinois State Police, it happened just before 2:20 p.m. on Illinois 145 near Barger Drive. That’s between Eddyville and Mitchellsville.
A vehicle going north in that area crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.
The driver and passenger of that vehicle were airlifted to a regional hospital with injuries. The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash was pronounced dead at the scene.
ISP says no further information is currently available.
