BENTON – Randy Stover, 65 years of age and a resident of Benton, IL, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. Randy was born September 26, 1958 in McLeansboro, IL to Danny Paul and Martha Ann (Robertson) Stover. He married Davita Jill (Hyten) on May 17, 1980, at Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church, McLeansboro, IL.
Randy worked as a self employed contractor. He enjoyed building and especially loved the challenge of helping others bring their ideas to life in ways they couldn’t even imagine. He and Jill enjoyed many motorcycle adventures around the world. He also enjoyed serving others on mission trips. Randy was a member and served as a Deacon of Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving Randy is his wife Jill Stover of Benton, IL; daughters Lindsay Hansen and husband Nick, McLeansboro, IL and Lisa Nelson and husband Mark of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Gavin Hansen, Joshua Hansen, Natalie Hansen, Audrey Nelson and Logan Nelson; his mother Martha Ann Stover, sister Cindy Allardin and husband Randy of Bandana, KY.
Randy was preceded in death by his father Danny Stover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the medical expenses of the members of the Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church mission team who were injured on the mission trip with Randy. The memorials should be made to Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted by the church.
A visitation service will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Ten Mile Missionary Baptist Church, McLeansboro, IL and the funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. at the church with Pastor Jacob Gray officiating. Burial will be held in Ten Mile Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
