MT. VERNON (WMIX) – The Mt. Vernon Police Department conducted compliance checks across the county last week with numerous citations being issued.
According to MVPD, a 19 year-old under police supervision entered multiple businesses Wednesday to purchase alcohol. Seven of eight locations reportedly sold alcohol to the underage agent.
Those cited for sale of alcohol to a person under the age of 21 include Summer T. Bradham with Midway Food Mart in Bluford, Jennifer M. Parson with Bluford American Legion, Nicola J. Jenkins with Corner Tavern, Bethany Allen with Spot Tavern, Rakesh M. Patel with Times Square Liquors North, Manishaben A. Patel with Times Square Liquors at the Mall, and Jamie R. Hargrove with Knuckleheads Bar and Grill.
Police say they also conducted a compliance check at Deebee’s Bar, but the bartender checked the identification and refused service.
They say the violations that happened in city limits were cited under city ordinance. A report will be sent to the city liquor commissioner for possible action against the business.
