WEST FRANKFORT – Mildred Louise Harkins, 82, of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN at 10:20 a.m.
Mildred was born August 22, 1941, in West Frankfort, Illinois, to Charles Loren and Irma Louise (Boyd) Burns. Mildred loved her family especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and loved Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Harkins; parents; brother Tom Burns.
Mildred is survived by her husband Jerry Harkins; sons Charles Harkins, Fred Dean (Suzanne) Harkins, and Jerry (Jennifer) Harkins; sisters-in-law Barbara Graves, Faye Grzanich, and Gayla Long; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois, with Bill Perry officiating. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
