SCHELLER (WMIX) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says three people were killed and one seriously injured just before midnight late Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash in Scheller.
According to crash reports, deputies responded around 11:59 p.m. Saturday to a report of a head-on crash with one vehicle on fire at the intersection of East Dubois Road and North Pulsar Lane in Scheller near Waltonville.
Upon arrival, deputies saw a crash involving a 2017 Buick and a 2023 Chevy pickup truck. Preliminary reports indicate the driver of the Buick crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with the truck.
The 20-year-old male driver of the Buick and his 20-year-old male passenger were both killed in the crash, as was the 37-year-old male driver of the truck. The 32-year-old male passenger in the truck was airlifted from the scene with serious injuries.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies, Waltonville Fire, Litton Ambulance, Air Evac, and Illinois State Police all responded to the scene. Sesser Fire and Coello Fire assisted with change of quarters in case of another call.
The names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released pending family notification. No other information regarding the crash was released.
