MARION – The Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge posted on their Facebook page that if you need access to your boat at the now closed Blue Heron Marina and Campground, call the Crab Orchard Recreation Association at 618-985-2572.
Officials say the concession contract has been terminated and a pre-solicitation in preparation for a new contract is planned to be advertised in January.
Copies of the termination letter are available at the Visitor Center.
The Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge closed the campground and marina in late September after a note was posted on the gate saying the facility would stay closed while the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office investigated alleged missing funds and other serious allegations.
