WEST FRANKFORT – A fire destroyed a West Frankfort home Saturday morning.
According to the West Frankfort Fire Department, it happened at 11:45 a.m. at 1008 E. Lindell St.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel arrived and found a working fire with heavy smoke coming from the side and back of the home.
Firefighters conducted an offensive fire attack through the front door. Interior crews were met with moderate smoke conditions and found fire in the kitchen and office area. The fire extended to a small part of the attic.
The homeowners arrived and confirmed that nobody else was in the home, but several pets were still inside. The fire was put out while several animals were rescued. Overhaul was complete and the fire was confirmed extinguished. Crews remained on scene for a short time after picking up equipment. No injuries were reported.
Fire departments from Benton, Johnson City, Buckner, Herrin, Zeigler, Williamson County Fire Protection District, and Sesser along with Abbott EMS, United EMS and MABAS 68/45 dispatch assisted with the fire.
