CARBONDALE – It seems SIU Carbondale Chancellor Austin Lane is one of five finalists in the running to become the next president of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Lane and four others were chosen following a national search and the university’s Board of Regents announced the finalists in a special meeting Friday according to a university press release.
The university says the next phase of the presidential search will include campus visits from each candidate beginning later this month.
There was no mention as to when the university will select its new president.
Lane has served as Chancellor at SIU Carbondale since July 1, 2020.
