HARRISBURG – Good news for the Golden Circle Senior Centers in southern Illinois.
Last week, Golden Circle officials sent a letter out to their 90 employees saying they would be closing the centers in Gallatin, Hardin, Pope and Saline counties due to a lack of funding and for not being able to pay their bills.
State Sen. Dale Fowler (R-Harrisburg) says when he learned about the closure announcement after coming back from Springfield last week, he took the necessary steps to prevent the closures from happening.
State Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) was also involved in the process to keep Golden Circle from closing. He gave credit to a team effort that came together quickly led by Sen. Fowler and joined by the Illinois Comptroller’s office.
Gloria Stacey, Golden Circle Senior Center Executive Director, says she thanks Sen. Fowler and Rep. Windhorst for their immediate attention in helping Golden Circle find a solution to keep their doors open.
