METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024.
February 14, 2024
In early February, Metropolis Police began an investigation at Burnham’s Collision and Body Shop involving burglaries to vehicles at the impound lot. On 02/14/24, officers arrested Dustin O. Cohoon, 29, of Metropolis with multiple charges including Burglary to Autos, Theft, Possession of another’s credit cards/ID, and Criminal Damage to Property. Cohoon was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 19, 2024
A Metropolis officer on patrol, observed Curtis W. Whited, 44, of Paducah, KY, walking in the area of 8th and Ferry Street. The officer was aware that Whited was wanted on warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Criminal Trespass to Property. Whited was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 21, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to the shower area of the Fort Massac State Park camping area. The caller advised that a person was living in one of the shower stalls. Upon arrival, officers located Donovan H. Weidig, 30, of Benton, IL. A computer check revealed that he was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by the State of Illinois for parole violation. Weidig was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
February 22, 2024
Metropolis officers were called to Harrah’s Casino. Illinois Gaming Officers and security had a person in custody. Upon arrival, officers were advised that Maxwell B. Wise, 31, of Belleville was in the casino after being previously trespassed from the property. Wise was arrested and then released on a notice to appear.
February 23, 2024
A Metropolis officer observed a person he recognized as Jeffery A. Beal, 61, of Metropolis on East 8th Street. The officer was aware that Beal was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Criminal Damage to Property. Beal was arrested and transported to the Massac County Detention Center. Upon arrival, a more thorough search was conducted on Beal, who was found to be in possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. Beal was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Bringing Contraband into a Penal Institution.
A Metropolis officer observed Aimee M. Cochrane, 37, of Paducah, KY, enter a residence in the 1200 block of Baynes. The officer was aware that she was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Driving while License Suspended. Cochrane was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis officer stopped a silver Jeep for speeding on East 5th Street and Woodhaven. A computer check on the driver, Matthew S. Wray II, 30, of Paducah, KY, revealed that he had suspended driver’s license. Wray was charged and released on a notice to appear.

A Metropolis officer arrested Joshua K. Hunt, 40, of Metropolis on West 10th and Pearl Street. Hunt was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA – Criminal Trespass to a motor vehicle. Hunt was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
