CHICAGO – A Cook County judge has ordered Donald Trump’s name be removed from the March 19 primary ballot, but she put her own decision on hold.
Capitol News Illinois reports Judge Tracie Porter found former President Trump engaged in insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021. She also found the State Board of Elections wrongly allowed his name to stay on the ballot.
But Porter put her own decision on hold until Friday – to allow time to appeal. The decision could be further stayed pending the U.S. Supreme Court’s review of a similar case in Colorado.
The high court heard oral arguments in the Colorado case on Feb. 8 but has not yet issued a decision.
