MARION – The last phase of the Tower Square downtown renovation project in Marion is underway.
According to City Spokesperson Cody Moake, the last phase includes paving bricks in the four corners to delineate between the driving lane and the parking areas as well as pedestrian safety improvements including new crosswalks to the center circle.
Beacons in the pavement and new signage will notify motorists of pedestrians.
Moake says with more pedestrians consistently at Tower Square, the City felt pedestrian safety improvements were essential to the future of downtown.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of November.
