METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, May 13, 2024.
On May 2, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the 300 block of West 10th. The caller said a subject was using drugs in the bathroom. Upon arrival, officers learned that Peyton R. Norwood, 20, of Metropolis was in fact using drugs in the bathroom. He was also in possession of a clear plastic baggie containing Fentanyl. Norwood was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Being on probation, he was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On May 4, 2024, Metropolis officers started an investigation into a stolen lawn mower. Investigation as well as video led to the thief being identified as David R. Sullivan, 45, of Metropolis. He was charged with Theft and released on a notice to appear.
On May 8, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the Ft. Massac Rest Area for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that Maxwell A Rincon, 34, of Orlando, FL, and his girlfriend had been involved in a domestic argument while parked at the rest area. A computer check revealed that there was an active order of protection issued in Texas and the girlfriend was the protected party. Rincon was arrested for Violation of the Order of Protection and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis officers were called to the women’s shelter on West 10th. Officers met with the caller who advised that Brandon L. Watson, 37, of Metropolis had been served with an order of protection and that he had returned to the residence in the 100 block of East 11th Street. The victim stated that he had been served the order of protection earlier that day. He walked around the block and forced his way through the back door which had been barricaded. Officers made entry to the residence and located Watson upstairs. Watson was arrested for Violation of an Order of Protection and was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On May 10, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to 3rd and Cherry for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim was riding his bike when Dale A. Cain Jr., 47, of Metropolis came up to him and punched him in the face. Officers observed injuries near his eye. Cain was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
