WEST FRANKFORT – David Allen Price, 63, of West Frankfort passed away peacefully at Carbondale Memorial Hospital on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
David was born on August 18, 1960, to Carl and Edith Price. He grew up in West Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort Community High School in 1978. He married the love of his life, Lisa, on December 7, 1985, and spent 39 wonderful years with her. Together they had two daughters and five grandchildren. David was a member of the First Christian Church in West Frankfort.
David took great passion in his work as a hearing aid specialist at Rhodes Centers for Better Hearing. His hobbies were playing tennis and watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He also enjoyed riding his four-wheeler and his motorcycle. He was a family man and the parts of his life he cherished the most were watching his daughters play ball, spending quality time with his wife riding their motorcycle, and being the best “Pappy” to all five of his grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Lisa, who still resides in West Frankfort, Illinois; daughters Megan (Jill) Clark of Charleston, Illinois, and Erika (Jordan) Nicholson of West Frankfort, Illinois; his five grandchildren Addilyn Dawn and Emmilee Renee Nicholson and Sebastian David, Noah James, and Alyssa Rose Clark; his brother Paul Price, mother-in-law Doris Stewart, sisters-in-law Cathy (John) Gaddis, Kerry (Kevin) Smith, and Karla (Brad) Yancik; nephews Shawn Price, Brad Price, John (Tracy) Gaddis, Jim (Vianca) Gaddis; and niece Valerie Stewart, great nephews Gabe, Tyler, and Ayden Price, Jimmy, Jackson, Johnny, Ethan and Tatum Gaddis; his great niece Ellie Price, and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. David cherished all of his friends and loved them dearly, but his lifelong best friend who was like a second brother was Todd Wall. He also had a very special uncle, Jerry Howell.
David was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Edith Price, sister Patricia Barber, fathers-in-law Gary Stidd and Bob Stewart, and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois, with Pastor Donnie Colson officiating. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service, from where friends and family can gather to celebrate his life.
The family would like to thank the Royalton Church of the Nazarene and Donnie Colson for their weekly visits and continued support. They went above and beyond for David and Lisa, and their kindness and generosity has been greatly appreciated.
David will be deeply missed by his family and friends for his outgoing personality (he never met a stranger), listening to loud rock music in his garage, his never-ending jokes, his early morning phone calls, all of his sayings “Davidisms,” and always knowing any sports statistic that was asked of him. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather and he loved his family more than anything in the world. “Over and Out.”
