BENTON – One person was injured after the vehicle they were in rolled over in the construction zone on northbound I-57 just south of the Benton exit around 5:30 Friday afternoon.
According to Illinois State Police, the vehicle – a Toyota passenger car – came to rest on its side, partially in the lane. One person was flown by helicopter to a regional hospital with injuries. At least one northbound lane remained open until the helicopter landed and intermittently closed for the traffic crash investigation and scene cleanup. All lanes were reopened at 7:50 p.m.
ISP says there is no further information.
