MCLEANSBORO – Patty Blazier, Chief Nursing Officer and executive leader at Hamilton Memorial Hospital District (HMHD), has announced her retirement after 42 years of continuous service at HMHD.
Regarding her departure, Blazier shared, “My time at Hamilton Memorial has been filled with caring individuals who provide support and care to the community, it takes each individual within this hospital to be the success that it is and will continue to be.”
Blazier began her career with HMHD in 1982 as a registered nurse. In 1988, she was appointed as the Emergency Department Manager.
In 1995, Blazier was promoted to the position of Director of Nursing, where she was later titled Chief Nursing Officer in 2015. Blazier’s leadership throughout her career has been an asset to HMHD. She has provided guidance and mentorship to many, while navigating the hospital nursing team through many changes.
During her tenure at HMHD, Blazier has served with distinction, driving accomplishments throughout the hospital. Blazier’s accomplished career includes many major projects and undertakings, including championing the transition to an electronic medical record system in 2004 and providing leadership and guidance throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Patty’s service to our community and hospital has been with the utmost dedication and commitment to care. Her legacy will continue to make a lasting impression on Hamilton Memorial,” shared Victoria Woodrow, HMHD Chief Executive Officer. “On behalf of our Hospital Board of Directors and entire team, we wish her a wonderful retirement and offer our sincerest appreciation for her 42 years of service.”
Blazier’s legacy of leadership will be greatly missed as she embarks on her next journey into retirement. Hamilton Memorial Hospital District is grateful for the time and talents that Blazier has shared with not only her colleagues during her decades of service, but the community as a whole.
