METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, July 15, 2024.
On July 11, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the Super 8 Motel for a hit and run. Upon arrival, officers obtained information and began looking for the white garbage truck. A Metropolis sergeant located the vehicle at the Baymont Inn off Exit 3 in Paducah. With the assistance of the Paducah Police, he was located behind the Pilot Truck Stop. Alfray L. Epps, 46, of Orange Park, FL, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and released on a notice to appear.
On July 11, 2024, Jeffery A. Beal, 61, of Metropolis was arrested in the 1300 block of Coburn. Beal was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Possession of Methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On July 11, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at the Loftus-McManus Funeral Home on Jon Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the management wanted Glenda A. Cozzie, 51, of Metropolis trespassed from the property. A computer check showed that Cozzie was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by McCracken County, KY, for Larceny. Cozzie was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On July 12, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to Guardian Family Services. Upon speaking with the victim, officers learned that Timothy Scott, 30, of Brookport was again calling her multiple times (8-10 calls) which is a violation of the order of protection. (Same offense he was arrested for last week.) Officers then went to his residence in Brookport. Scott was arrested and again charged with Violation of an Order of Protection. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On July 13, 2024, Micah A. Houston, 27, of Mounds, was arrested in the 500 block of East 5th Street. Houston was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Pulaski County, IL, for FTA-Violation of an order of protection. Houston was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On July 13, 2024, Herbert L. Bradford, 60, of Metropolis was arrested in the alley in the 800 block of West 8th Street. Bradford was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for FTA-Theft. Bradford was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
On July 13, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the Smith Auction and Thrift store in the 800 block of West 10th Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the caller who gave a description of the vehicle and that had stolen items from the side of the building that were for sale. A Metropolis sergeant located the vehicle which had its tailgate open and he could see items matching the description of the stolen items. A traffic stop was initiated. James D. Hall, 34, of Newton, IL, and Mareen D. Reynolds, 40, of Joppa, IL, were charged with Theft and released on a notice to appear.
On July 14, 2024, a Metropolis officer made a traffic stop on East 5th and Woodhaven. A computer check revealed that the driver, Tyra L. Angles, 39, of Metropolis had a suspended driver’s license. Angels was charged with driving while license suspended and released on a notice to appear.
