CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police are investigating a weekend stabbing and vehicle theft.
Police say just before 2:50 Saturday morning, a report came in regarding the incident that happened in the 500 block of East Sycamore Street.
Officers learned the stabbing victim was already taken to the emergency room in a personal vehicle. The victim of the stabbing ultimately died as a result of the stab wound. The original reporting party reported to officers they received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the same altercation in which the stabbing and vehicle theft occurred.
The involved parties are all known acquaintances to each other. The names of the involved parties are not being released at this time. This is an active and on-going investigation.
The Carbondale Police are being assisted in this investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson County Coroner’s Office, and the Jackson County States Attorney’s Office.
All of the involved parties are identified and there are no known ongoing threats to the public.
