HERRIN – Bill Steh, 97, of Herrin, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 29, 2024, in his residence at 10:50 a.m.
Bill was born on July 17, 1927, in Johnston City, Illinois, to Frank and Nellie (Stubblefield) Steh. He was a member of the First Church of God in West Frankfort. Bill was in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Steh, Jr.
Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley Steh; sons, Bruce Steh and Bryan (Laura) Steh; brother, James (Betty) Steh; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Conrad) Irby; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don (Linda) Gass, and Joe (Donna) Gass; three grandchildren, Bailey, Madison, and Dillon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday August 1, 2024, at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois, with David Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road. Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service.
Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 1961 and Zeigler Post 177.
