MT. VERNON – Three new Mt. Vernon Police officers were sworn in Thursday.
According to a Mt. Vernon Police Department Facebook post, they are Seth Williams, Christopher West, and Landon Mischke.
They will now spend 16 weeks at the Southwestern Illinois College Police Academy.
Following graduation from the academy, they will return for 14 weeks of field training by veteran Mt. Vernon Police officers.
To get to this point, they had to successfully pass a physical test, a written test, an interview, go through a rigorous background check, polygraph test, psychological test, and medical evaluation.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department continues to strive to find the best suitable candidates to serve the City of Mt. Vernon.
The police department will be accepting applications and testing for police officers soon.
