Alex Dossett

WEST FRANKFORT – Alex was born on July 18, 2003, at 7:51 a.m. in Marion, Illinois. to Johnnie and Laura(Johnson) Dossett Gajowiak.

Alex had a personality bigger than life. His smile could light up any room. People were just drawn to him, from family, friends, strangers, and famous people. He was easy to talk to, and always ready to listen. He was his mom’s travel and concert buddy. He traveled all over the country and in to Canada in his short life.

He was in a relationship with Kenzie Ayers, who was the love of his life. He wanted to show her the world, and took her to so many new places. Kenzie plans to continue traveling in his honor.

He grew up in a strong church family at First Christian Church in West Frankfort. He helped lead the youth worship there for years, as well as at Trinity Methodist. He attended and helped out with Southern IL Christian Service Camp for several years, as well as in Missouri. He traveled around the country with First Christian Church playing in their bell choir and putting on plays. This led him to attending Lincoln Christian University where he was studying Worship Ministry.

He was also very active in the theater community. He worked with 13Theatrics most recently, StageCo, and Artstarts to name a few. He had a love of performing from an early age. As he got older, he performed in shows like Evil Dead, Jekyll and Hyde, Frozen, and got to play his dream role of Rocky in Rocky Horror Picture Show. He most recently portrayed Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, a role where he got to play out his Rock God lifestyle. There were so many more shows, but those were some of his more notable ones. He received a scholarship to Southeastern Illinois College where he was studying for his Associates in Fine Arts.

He was such an amazing talent. He taught himself piano because his mom told him that if he learned to play the piano, he would get the girls. He also taught himself the guitar, bass, drums, and played many other instruments. Alex loved to write songs and music. You could usually find him with his best friend, Dalton Austin. Together they would write songs. Alex formed a band, Alex Dossett and The Timeliners, so that he could perform those songs. The Timeliners also performed 80s rock covers. He recently joined another band as well, Shatterfall, but sadly never got to perform outside of practice.

Alex is survived and deeply loved by his mom and step-dad, Laura and Aaron Gajowiak; his sister, Allison Dossett; his brother Shawn Dossett and his girlfriend Grace Dotson; his niece, Ruby – who is on the way; his best friend and forever love, Kenzie Ayers; his grandpa, David Johnson; uncle, Mark Johnson; and cousin, Genny Johnson.
