METROPOLIS – A man has been charged with Obstructing a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest after Metropolis Police responded to a woman calling for help in the 700 block of East 12th Street Saturday.
Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse says when officer arrived, they found the woman sitting in a car, but she refused to cooperate or tell them what had happened. Her hand was bleeding.
While speaking to the woman, 47-year-old Cleon Tanner of Metropolis approached and became argumentative and refused to cooperate. Tanner was informed he was being detained until this situation could be figured out. Tanner refused to cooperate and struggled with the officers. He resisted and struggled with the officers. Once handcuffed, Tanner was searched and found to be in possession of a butcher knife in his right pocket.
Tanner was charged with Obstructing a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
The woman refused to cooperate and went inside the home. She also refused medical attention.
