Meth, Drug Paraphernalia Found at Marion Traffic Stop, Two Cited

MARION – Two people have been cited on drug-related charges following a recent traffic stop in Williamson County.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, around 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, deputies saw a vehicle commit traffic violations while driving near the intersection of Deyoung and Court streets in Marion.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Scott L. Essary.

A sheriff’s office K9 unit arrived. The K9 did a free air sniff of the vehicle and indicated a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

Deputies approached the vehicle and asked those inside to get out. Deputies saw a woman, identified as Morgan B. Tarr, get out of the vehicle and conceal an unknown item in her jacket pocket.

A probable cause search of Tarr located a clear plastic bag containing 1.4 grams of meth.

Essary told deputies they could find meth inside the center console of the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle located drug paraphernalia containing residue which later field tested positive for meth.

Essary and Tarr were both cited for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Essary was also cited for No Registration Light.

Essary and Tarr were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
