Cocaine Discovered at Williamson County Traffic Stop, Man Cited

MARION – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says a man was recently cited after cocaine was found inside the vehicle he was driving during a recent traffic stop.

Around 11:40 p.m. on Aug. 21, deputies saw a vehicle, driven by Eric R. Gottberg, traveling east on Herrin Road at 43rd Street between Colp and Herrin when he committed a traffic violation. He was driving without a valid driver’s license.

A K9 unit from the sheriff’s office arrived and was deployed to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 made a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a white powdery substance lying the driver’s seat. It later field tested positive for cocaine. A further search located a clear plastic bag containing cocaine.

Gottberg was cited for Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Speeding, and No Valid Driver’s License.

Gottberg was taken to the Williamson County Jail.
