Metropolis Police Report

METROPOLIS – The Metropolis Police Department released the following information on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. 

On Aug. 26, 2024, Metropolis officers were called to the Walgreens for a theft in progress. Upon arrival, a Metropolis sergeant met with a store employee who advised two females pushing a child in a baby stroller had taken items and hid them in the stroller. Once they exited the store, they were confronted by the sergeant and an off duty Illinois State Police Master Sergeant. The items totaling almost $192 were recovered hidden in the stroller. A 13-year-old juvenile and Samantha Jackson, 27, of Metropolis were charged with Retail Theft. They were released on a notice to appear.

Danny E. King, 44, of Metropolis was arrested for a warrant. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Aggravated Battery and Domestic Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

On Aug. 28, 2024, Metropolis Police were called to investigate a domestic disturbance which occurred on I-24 near milepost 37. The victim stated that she was arguing with her husband, when he punched her in the arm and grabbed her neck and head. He also damaged the windshield by punching it. Carl L. Allen, 39, of Metropolis was arrested at his work place and charged with Domestic Battery. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

On Aug. 29, 2024, Dustin O. Cohoon, 29, of Metropolis was arrested at a residence in the 1700 block of Filmore. Cohoon was wanted on warrants that were issued by Massac County. The warrants were for FTA-Burglary, Theft, Criminal Damage to Property, and Possession of Burglary Tools. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

On Aug. 30. 2024, Metropolis officers were notified by pre-trial services that GPS on the ankle monitor worn by Justin J. Todd, 34, of Hickory, KY, showed where the monitor was. Officers located the monitor which had been cut off and discarded. They retrieved the monitor. Officers were given the address of the victim for the original offense and went to the residence in the 700 block of West 19th Street. Officers located Todd at the residence. He was charged with Violation of Bail Bond (conditions of release) and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. 

The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
