MT. VERNON – The City of Mt. Vernon is removing the trees from the downtown park this week.
According to city officials, after careful assessment, it has been determined that the current trees are unlikely to survive. To ensure the long-term beauty and health of the park, new trees will be planted in November.
This project will come at no additional cost to the city, and the replanting is scheduled to coincide with the best time for new tree growth.
Officials appreciate the community’s understanding as they work to enhance and preserve the downtown park for future generations.
