Two Arrested after Meth, Marijuana Found at Carmi Traffic Stop

CARMI – Two McLeansboro women are facing drug charges following a traffic stop on the Verizon parking lot in Carmi Sunday.

According to Carmi Police, 42-year-old Misty M. Wells was arrested for Possession of Cannabis in a Motor Vehicle. Wells was booked and released from the White County Jail with a notice to appear. Online court records show Wells is set to make her first appearance in White County Court on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 9 a.m.

Fifty-eight-year-old Penney A. Sullivan was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine. She is being held in the White County Jail for her charges. According to online court records, a preliminary hearing for Sullivan is set for Monday, Nov. 18 at 10 a.m. in White County Court. 

Police stopped the women around 4:40 p.m. and saw a marijuana pipe on the driver side floor board.

A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle which led to the discovery of multiple marijuana pipes, marijuana in a non-child resistant container, methamphetamine and a used methamphetamine pipe.
