MURPHYSBORO – It’s going to be several days before we know who the next Jackson County State’s Attorney will be.
That’s because Republican incumbent Joe Cervantez and his challenger, Democrat Marsha Cascio-Hale, both received 10,805 votes on Election Day.
The Jackson County Clerk’s Office says the race may come down to votes from provisional ballots and vote by mail ballots, which had to be postmarked by Election Day, before we know who the winner will be. That will take about two weeks because election officials will have to look at mail in ballots to make sure they were done correctly and compare signatures before they can be counted.
