MARION – The Marion VA will celebrate the Marine Corps 249th birthday Friday with a ceremony in collaboration with three separate Marine Corps League detachments – detachment #1390 out of Paducah, detachment #812 out of Carbondale and detachment #1013 out of Herrin.
It will get underway at 3 p.m. at the Marion VA Center for Behavioral Health Building on West Main Street. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
The ceremony will take no more than 40 minutes, followed by cake and refreshments, provided by the Veterans Canteen Service.
