METROPOLIS – Metropolis Police along with the Illinois Liquor Commission Thursday conducted an undercover alcohol detail using a 19-year-old person, who attempted to buy alcohol from the licensed liquor establishments in Metropolis.
Casey’s General Store, Party Hut, Big John’s, Family Dollar, Super City Bar and Grill, Super Bowl, Huck’s, Elk’s, Sully’s Billiards and Walgreens were all found to be in compliance.
El Toro Loco, El Tequila, Speedymart, Fat Edd’s, KKG 4 (Phillips 66) and the American Legion were found to be in violation.
Cordavino’s, Last Stop and Trails Inn were not open at the time.
Police say the bartender/clerk who sold the alcohol to the minor was charged with Selling Alcohol to a Minor in violation of Illinois Complied Statue 235ILCS5/6-16, which is a class A misdemeanor. They were released on a notice to appear.
