MT. VERNON (WMIX) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office unveiled a new distracted driving and DUI simulator Saturday aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of irresponsible driving.
The simulator will allow local students to experience firsthand the effects of driving while distracted or under the influence, without the life-changing consequences.
Funded by specialty “Chirper” funds, the technology was purchased with help from the Jefferson County Crime Stoppers board and local donations.
School resource officers are trained to use the equipment, which will be used to educate high school students about safe driving practices.
