HERRIN – The City of Herrin is under a boil water order until further notice due to a water main break that was identified Tuesday morning near Johnston City from the city’s source supply – the Rend Lake Intercity Water System.
Rend Lake’s crews are currently working to repair the break which is expected to be completed in less than 24 hours.
The city presently has sufficient stored water to provide uninterrupted service to its customers during the expected time of the repair.
The city will update its water customers as this situation progresses up until the repair is made.
