Man Tries to Run from Christopher Police and Threatens Officers

CHRISTOPHER – Christopher Police arrested 35-year-old Brandon M. Brown of Sesser on multiple charges including Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding and Threatening a Public Official after leading police on a chase around 9:30 Wednesday night.

Police tried to stop Brown after seeing him commit several traffic violations and drive through the main four-way stop intersection on Illinois 148 and 14 very recklessly at a high rate of speed.

Brown failed to yield to police and began passing other vehicles causing a dangerous environment and almost causing several vehicles to collide. He was going over 110 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Police continued to pursue Brown on Illinois 148 until he got to the intersection of Park Street Road and stopped. An off-duty police officer from a neighboring agency saw the pursuit and was able to help apprehend Brown where he was taken into custody without further incident.

While in custody Brown continued to make life threatening accusations towards the officers on scene.

Brown was also charged with Reckless Driving, Aggravated Speeding, Intimidation, and Disobeying a Stop Sign.

Christopher Police thank the Spillertown and Zeigler police departments and Franklin County Central Dispatch for their help in apprehending Brown.
