WCSO Recovers 32 of 36 Stolen Vehicles Since October

MARION – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says there has been an uptick in vehicle thefts.

Since Oct. 12, the sheriff’s office has investigated 36 vehicle thefts and recovered 32 vehicles.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) there are steps you can take to reduce the chance you will become the victim of a vehicle theft.

The following is a listing of stolen vehicle cases handled by WCSO during the period of Oct. 13 and Dec. 15:

Dec. 15, 2024 – Commercial power wash vehicle was reported stolen out of Herrin. WCSO recovered the stolen vehicle on Dec. 16, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Circle Drive and Park Lane in Herrin.

Dec. 15, 2024 – WCSO took a report of a stolen Polaris Ranger UTV crew cab from Shed Church Road. The UTV has not been recovered.

Dec. 15, 2024 – At 1:35 a.m. WCSO responded to a trespass call in the 15000 block of Fowler School Road and discovered a car fully engulfed in flames. The car was discovered stolen out of Williamson County.

Dec. 14, 2024 – At 8:40 p.m. a vehicle stolen from Crainville was recovered after a pursuit in Herrin. The driver was arrested. The vehicle was totaled.

Dec. 13, 2024 – At 1:33 a.m. WCSO executed a search warrant and recovered a YZ450 dirt bike and a black 49cc Honda scooter which were both stolen. The search warrant was the conclusion of an extensive investigation by WCSO.

Dec. 8, 2024 – At 11:14 a.m. WCSO recovered a red F150 pickup stolen from Herrin. The pickup was recovered at the Comfort Inn in Marion. The driver was arrested.

Dec. 6, 2024 – WCSO recovered a black 2020 Ford SUV. The vehicle was stolen out of Jackson County earlier that same day.

Dec. 5, 2024 – WCSO took a theft report on a 2005 Blue and White Yamaha YZF250 dirt bike. The dirt bike has been recovered.

Dec. 4, 2024 – WCSO took a theft report on a Red 1993 Jeep Cherokee stolen out of Creal Springs. The vehicle has been recovered and charges are pending.

Dec. 3, 2024 – WCSO recovered a stolen orange 1998 Ford Explorer in Whiteash. The vehicle was stolen out of Johnston City. The suspect has been arrested.

Dec. 3, 2024 – WCSO recovered a white 2010 Buick Enclave which was stolen out of Herrin Illinois. The vehicle was reported stolen on Dec. 2. The suspect has been arrested.

Dec. 2, 2024 – WCSO recovered a stolen Suzuki LTZ Four-Wheeler. The four-wheeler was stolen on Dec. 1.

Dec. 1, 2024 – WCSO took a theft report on a Dark Blue 2023 Polaris Ranger. The UTV has not been recovered.

Dec. 1, 2024 – WCSO took a report of a stolen Black/Orange/Silver 2023 CF Moto Z Force 800. The UTV has not been recovered.

Nov. 29, 2024 – At 8:30 a.m. WCSO recovered a blue Ford Edge SUV which was stolen out of Jackson County. The vehicle was recovered after being abandoned on Stoughton Road.

Nov. 29, 2024 – Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies took a theft/criminal damage report on a 2024 Polaris Ranger UTV. The UTV was recovered, but had damage to the ignition from the attempted theft.

Nov. 29, 2024 – A silver GMC Yukon was reported stolen and later recovered by WCSO on Nov. 30, 2024. Two suspects have been arrested.

Nov. 20, 2024 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office took a stolen vehicle report on a 2021 Black Kia Rio. The vehicle was later recovered that same day.

Nov. 19, 2024 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on three motorcycles which fled. One of the motorcycles was recovered in Williamson County. The other two motorcycles were recovered a short time later in Perry County.

Nov. 19, 2024 – WCSO took a stolen vehicle report on a 2024 Black Subaru SUV. The vehicle was stolen near the site of another recovered stolen vehicle. The vehicle has been recovered.

Nov. 16, 2024 – WCSO recovered a stolen Red 2023 Ford Maverick which was stolen out of Johnson County and a 2007 Dodge Ram truck stolen out of Union County. The Dodge Truck was used in a home invasion in Johnson County. During the home invasion, the suspect stole the Ford Maverick and drove it back to Williamson County. Both suspects were arrested.

Nov. 15, 2024 – the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office took a theft report on a stolen 2002 Honda four-wheeler. The four-wheeler was recovered by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on Nov. 17, 2024.

Nov. 13, 2024 – WCSO took a stolen vehicle report on a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle was recovered on Nov. 22, 2024.

Nov. 7, 2024 – WCSO recovered a 2019 Blue Honda Accord. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Carbondale on Nov. 7, 2024.

Nov. 6, 2024 – Williamson County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a stolen 2009 Harley Davidson street glide from Walker Road. The motorcycle has not been recovered.

Nov. 5, 2024 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen vehicle. On the same date, the vehicle was reported stolen to the Carbondale Police Department. The vehicle was identified as a Silver 2011 Chrysler 300.

Oct. 31, 2024 – A vehicle was stolen utilizing a fraudulent check. The white Dodge Charger was stolen by a St. Louis vehicle theft ring. The vehicle was later recovered on I-57 north of Johnston City.

Oct. 25, 2024 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen Black 2009 Toyota Scion. The vehicle had previously been reported stolen to the Carbondale Police Department.

Oct. 20, 2024 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen 2008 Ford F-350. The vehicle had previously been reported to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.

Oct. 17, 2024 – WCSO recovered a black Kia stolen out of Herrin which was in the possession of two juveniles, ages 14 and 15. The vehicle was recovered the same day it was stolen.

Oct. 13, 2024 – WCSO took a stolen vehicle report on a 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The same day the vehicle was recovered by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

Oct. 12, 2024 – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office took a theft report for a stolen Red 2016 Polaris Ranger. It was recovered by WCSO on Oct. 13, 2024. The UTV had been abandoned and completely burned to the frame.
