BELLE RIVE – Gilbert William Rapp, age 88, a resident of Belle Rive, IL, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2024, at his residence.
Gilbert was born February 6, 1936, in Dahlgren, IL. He was a son of Joe Rapp Sr and Lena Haas Rapp. Gilbert retired from Caterpillar and loved working around the farm and watching NASCAR Racing.
Gilbert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dahlgren, IL.
Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Rapp, Belle Rive, IL; sisters-in-law, Judy Rapp, Mt. Vernon, IL and Cleo Rapp, Dahlgren. Also surviving are nephews, Curt Rapp and wife, Kristi, Waltonville, IL and Jason Rapp, Dahlgren, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Joe Rapp Jr. and Ed Rapp.
Visitation for Gilbert will be Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. following the Rosary. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Dahlgren, IL, with Father Ptak conducting the services.
Memorials may be made to St. John Catholic Cemetery, Dahlgren or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
