CREAL SPRINGS – The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was found dead with what initially appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her head around 9:40 Wednesday night in the 400 block of South Logan Street in Creal Springs.
The home was secured and out of an abundance of caution is being processed by sheriff’s detectives with assistance from Illinois State Police Crime Scene investigators.
Sheriff Jeff Diederich says while the injuries sustained initially appear to be self-inflicted, it is incumbent upon us to reach that conclusion through a comprehensive forensic investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for today. The victim’s name is not being released until her family is notified.
There is no threat to public safety and this remains an active and ongoing investigation.
