CAIRO – Several fire departments were called in to help out Cairo firefighters battle a grain elevator fire at Bunge in Cairo around 8 Thursday morning.
Cairo Fire says fire on a conveyor belt on one of the grain elevators moved down the belt to two other silos. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from going into bins containing soybeans.
No injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to wrap things up just before noon.
We reached out to Bunge officials about the fire, but they have not responded to our request for comment.
