Samuel Rubenacker

MCLEANSBORO – Samuel Rubenacker, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at his residence in McLeansboro, IL. 

Sam was born September 25 1942, in McLeansboro, IL. He was a son of Oscar Rubenacker and Francies (Ewald) Rubenacker. He worked for Local 561, Evansville, IN Labor Union. Sam loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and the Carmi VFW.  He was Catholic by faith and served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his companion, Judy Hood; a son, John Biggerstaff, brother, David Rubenacker and wife, June, of Dahlgren, IL; his sister, Angie Butler and husband, Elmer, Dahlgren, IL; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Rubenacker, also of Dahlgren. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Brian, Brett and Kyle Biggerstaff; along with several nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Phyllis and husband, Philip Rapp; Doris and husband, Virgil Richardson; and his brothers, Jack Rubenacker and wife, Pearl; Tim Rubenacker and Jerry Rubenacker.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, IL, with the funeral service following visitation. 

Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro, IL.
