MELROSE PARK – The Illinois State Bowling Proprietors’ Association (ISBPA) recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary.
To commemorate reaching the milestone, the association produced a 116-page booklet recognizing 75 individuals and/or families, with strong ties to Illinois, who have advanced bowling.
One of the individuals recognized is Steve Ludwig of Salem Bowl in Salem and SI Bowl in Carterville. Ludwig became the proprietor of Salem Bowl in 1987. He is active on the PBA50 Tour. In addition, he has been the head coach of the Salem High School Bowling team since the 2002-03 season.
“It’s a wonderful life when you are able to open the doors and never have to look at the clock until the last bowler has gone home,” Ludwig said.
ISBPA President, Mike Melone said people like Ludwig are not only tremendous ambassadors of the bowling community, but they are also outstanding citizens who take great pride in serving their communities.
“Steve’s passion for bowling and for the community as well as his support for bowling youth is unparalleled,” Melone said. “It is an honor to recognize him for what he has done for bowling not just in Illinois but throughout the nation.”
