CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery Monday night at a Carbondale business in the 900 block of East Main.
Carbondale Police say during the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jonquel M. Gaston of Carbondale.
Investigators coordinated with law enforcement officials in Champaign County where officers arrested him.
Gaston is charged with Armed Robbery and being an Armed Habitual Criminal.
Gaston is lodged in the Champaign County Jail awaiting extradition to Jackson County.
Around 6:35 p.m. Monday, officers learned Gaston entered the business, displayed a firearm, and demanded money.
Gaston fled northbound prior to the officer’s arrival, but during the course of the investigation, it was learned he was last seen running south near the intersection of South Cedarview and East Walnut Street.
