SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Our area will experience the first winter storm of the new year as snow, sleet and ice is expected to hit this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that will be in effect from late Saturday night through late Sunday night.
Rachel Trevino is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Paducah.
The storm we are expecting, Trevino says, will not be like what we had when the ice storm happened in 2009.
Trevino noted Sunday temperatures will be extreme running anywhere from 27 in the north to almost 50 in the south. She says some of our affected counties could have lots of problems in the north and fewer problems in the south.
So what time will all of this actually begin?
