SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Storm Watch for just about the entire listening area with the exception of Alexander, Massac and Pulaski counties from late Saturday night through late Sunday night.
Forecasters say heavy mixed precipitation is possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 4 inches or more and ice accumulations of one quarter inch or more are possible.
Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.
You should monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.
Forecasters will also hold a conference call later this morning about the winter storm. Look for details on our website’s news page later today and on our newscasts.
