SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – Here’s a list of closings and cancelations due to the winter storm for Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. This list will be updated, so check back often.
SCHOOLS
Benton Consolidated High School will conduct an e-learning day Monday. All events, activities, and practices scheduled for Monday are canceled. A-day assignments will be available by 9 a.m. Students must log-in and complete the attendance form for each A-day class by 1p.m. to be counted present. As a reminder, students should log-in to their 2nd semester classes.
Carmi-White County Schools closed.
Due to weather the teachers in-service day scheduled for Monday at Eldorado High School has been postponed to a later date. All sporting and extracurricular events scheduled for Monday have also been canceled.
Field School will be taking a remote learning day on Monday. Please complete packet number one and bring it back upon returning to school. Monday evening activities are canceled.
Frankfort CUSD #168 in West Frankfort will have no school Monday.
Due to hazardous road conditions, Hamilton County Unit 10 Schools will utilize an e-learning day on Monday. The Senior High will be on an A-Day schedule. Students should check their schedules for second semester changes as well as their email for invitations to Google Classroom for classes that are new for second semester. Times are posted below. The Daycare will also be closed.
Johnston City Schools will be closed Monday. It will be a e-learning day.

Sesser-Valier Schools will be closed on Monday due to inclement weather.
Trinity Lutheran School in Centralia closed, snow day.
COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES
John A. Logan College will suspend operations Monday for all college facilities, including extension centers and JALC Logan Fitness. All classes and activities will be canceled for the day. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stay informed by monitoring local media, our website (jalc.edu), and our social media channels for updates regarding the status of future operations.
Due to inclement weather, Kaskaskia College Main Campus and all Education Centers will be closed Monday. We will continue to provide the following services remotely via email. Students are encouraged to reach out to finalize enrollment plans prior to the start of classes on Monday, Jan. 13. All Rend Lake College campuses will be closed Monday due to inclement weather. Virtual Zoom Advisement will still be available for individuals who would like to register for Spring 2025. Staff from the Business Office, Financial Aid and Student Records will also be available. No appointment required.
Due to the ice, snow, extremely cold temperatures, and dangerous road conditions, SIC will not be in session on Monday.
Due to hazardous weather and road conditions, SIU Carbondale is closed until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan 7. This is an administrative closure. The closure includes the Student Center, Recreation Center and SIU offices. Grounds workers will clear sidewalks, steps and parking lots as weather conditions permit. All court dockets in Jefferson County will be closed Monday. Please refer to Judici for a new court date. We will also be mailing out notices with new court dates. If your address has changed since your last court date, please contract the Circuit Clerk to update your address.
Marion City Hall and facilities closed.
Massac County Courthouse is open today and is a daytime warming center. Eastland Life Church is a nighttime warming center. Massac County Court canceled.

Due to the winter storm and road conditions, the Benton/West City Chamber of Commerce has reschedule the Annual Dinner Committee Meeting, originally planned for Monday, to Thursday at noon, weather permitting. It will be held at Pop’s BBQ. Please let the Chamber know if you will be able to attend the rescheduled meeting.
