MT. VERNON – Shirley Ann Uhls, age 89, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025, at Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.
Shirley was born April 30, 1935, in Benton, IL. She was a daughter of George Kleine and Chloe (Hunsaker) Kleine. Shirley was a secretary for the Illinois Central Railroad. She loved to play bingo and was a Baptist by faith.
Shirley married Bob J. Uhls in 1956. Bob passed away in 2012.
Survivors include her sons, Scott Uhls and wife, Aleta, Dahlgren, IL, Jason Sprehe and wife, Amber, Woodlawn, IL, and Avery Sprehe and wife, Candy, Cobden, IL. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Scott Uhles, Jr. and wife, Samantha, Centralia, IL, Aaron Uhls and companion, Sarah Lockwood, Benton, IL; Jessie Manning, Kirestin Uhls, Hailey Uhls, Eli Sprehe, Emileigh Sprehe, and Amelia Andrews. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.
Memorials may be given to Hospices of Southern Illinois.
There will be a private family burial of ashes in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Dahlgren, IL. at a later date.
The Harre Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
