SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The weekend winter storm and ice storm brought a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ice to much of southern Illinois.
Numerous power outages, downed trees and tree limbs, slick roads and some accidents were reported. Road crews were out cleaning and treating area roads to keep those who had to be out safe.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Paducah say a Winter Storm Warning is in effect north of Route 13 and a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect south of Route 13 until noon today. They say a bitter cold arctic blast will follow the storm through much of this week.
