Cold Weather Advisory Issued for Parts of Southern Illinois

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for parts of our listening area from 9 tonight until 6 tomorrow morning.

This includes Franklin, Jefferson, Hamilton, Wayne and White counties.

Forecasters say very cold temperatures as low as 2 below are expected.

Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures.

Clearing skies and much colder air will move into the region tonight. Dangerously cold conditions are expected in areas impacted by the recent ice storm that may still have lingering power outages.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible. If you’re in an area impacted by widespread power outages, consider evaluating other sheltering options overnight.
