MT. VERNON – An Ina woman was sentenced Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to 25 years in prison after she pled guilty for Possession of Child Pornography and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse of a victim under 18.
Twenty-five-year-old Julie R. Bulthuis is being held in the Jefferson County Jail until her transfer to prison.
The conviction resulted from an investigation initiated by a complaint made to the Mt. Vernon Police Department on July 1 of last year. It was determined the allegations originated in Ina, so the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was contacted to assist. Sheriff’s detectives took over the investigation.
Search warrants were obtained and executed at the same Ina home on July 2 where evidence was obtained and submitted for forensic analysis.
The investigation revealed evidence of criminal activity, which also involved a victim who was a juvenile family member. Once completed, the investigation findings were forwarded to the States Attorney’s office for formal charges and the arrest warrants were issued.
